PTFA

Please find below the first edition of the PTFA 2012/2013 Newsletter.

The next big event for the PTFA is the organisation of the National Day Celebrations on 29th November.

If you have any toys, books, uniform etc that you would like to donate for the bric-a-brac / second hand uniform stall, please hand these items in to either the Pegasus or Phoenix Receptions by November 22nd 2012.

Come along to our next meeting which will be held in the Pegasus Staffroom at 8.10am on Tuesday, 20th November when we will be finalising arrangements for the National Day celebrations.

Staff News

A very warm welcome is extended to 'old' staff as they return from their holidays and to new staff arriving in Dubai to take up their posts at SIS Mirdif. We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year ahead.

The first School Council was set up in Star International School, Mirdif in October 2011.  In total there are 10 school council representatives, one from each class from Year 1 to Year 6.  Their pictures, names and the class they represent are detailed below:

The aims of the school council are:

  • To develop pupils effective speaking and listening skills.
  • To develop the pupil's recognition of themselves as worthwhile individuals with a right to be heard.
  • To allow the children to have a "voice" and to share their opinions and ideas with others.
  • To allow children to become more responsible and actively involved in the decision-making process of the school.
  • To give pupils the opportunity to be involved in improving school life for everyone.
  • To develop pupils' self esteem and personal responsibility.
