Admission
The first step to admitting or registering a student for September 2012 is for the parents to visit the school and meet the administration team, who will then conduct the family through the process. Below is a step-by-step guide through this journey!

- Meet the administration team and find out information about the school
- Make an appointment for interview and assessment test
- Collect the Application Form and complete it at home (see end for required documents)
- Return on the appointed date for the assessment test and interview with form and documents

Criteria
Each child will have a pre-admission meeting with an appointed staff member to assess the suitability of the school to the child and the readiness of the child to join our school. The parents will discuss family circumstances in regard to potential school admission, which may for example include subjects like previous education history, learning readiness, personal hygiene and social behaviour. During the discussion, the child is assessed in an age appropriate way and standardised tests are used in the majority of cases for admission to FS2 and the years beyond. In most cases, previous school records will be reviewed as well and, in some instances, the previous school may be contacted for clarification. While many parents often feel that the match between school (or a certain class) and the child is unambiguous, it is still entirely at Star International School's discretion that a child is admitted. Below is a table outlining the statutory age limits (according to the KHDA) for each academic level:
| FS1: Age 3 | on Sep 15 |
| FS2: Age 4 | on Sep 15 |
| Y1: Age 5 | on Sep 15 |
| Y2: Age 6 | on Sep 15 |
| Y3: Age 7 | on Sep 15 |
| Y4: Age 8 | on Sep 15 |
| Y5: Age 9 | on Sep 15 |
| Y6: Age 10 | on Sep 15 |
